The Vancouver WA Waterfront is getting a Pike Place Style Public Market

It’s finally happening, Vancouver! We are officially leveling up to “the place with the cool public market.”

The Vancouver Waterfront is slated to welcome a Pike Place-style public market called Terminal 1…and honestly? It’s about time. For years, we’ve watched Seattle have all the fun…throwing fish, dodging tourists with giant cameras, and enjoying the aromatic symphony of fresh sourdough and saltwater. Now, we’re getting our own slice of that pie (likely a locally sourced, artisanal marionberry pie).

🚢 Old School Roots, New School Brews

This isn’t just a shiny new box on the water. Terminal 1 has been holding it down since the 1920s when it served as the city’s original warehouse hub. The new design plans lean into that history, incorporating a visual timeline of the Port’s past.

But let’s be real…you’re here for the brews and chews. The newly envisioned Terminal 1 layout, constructed by Graham Baba Architects, will include:

  • The Essentials: Stalls for locally sourced produce and gifts (ideal for looking like a refined local).
  • Brews and Chews: Space for restaurants, craft breweries, and regional wineries.
  • The Hustle: Day tables and booths for local makers to flex their creative muscles.

🛝 A Ten-Acre Playground

The market is just the crown jewel of a massive ten-acre redevelopment of the entire Port area. If you’re worried about where to walk off that third artisanal taco, the Port has you covered. The site is getting:

  • Green Space & An Amphitheater: For your summer lounging and listening
  • The Renaissance Trail: A five-mile stretch connecting downtown to Wintler Park…perfect for cyclists and people who enjoy scenic strolling.
  • A 160-Room “Lifestyle” Hotel: Complete with a rooftop bar so you can watch the traffic on the I-5 bridge from above.

🐟 Will There Be a Fish Toss Section at Terminal 1?

The big question remains: Will there be flying salmon at Terminal 1? While we can’t confirm if “fish throwing” is in the zoning permit, we can hope for a version that’s uniquely Vancouver. Maybe we toss craft beer cans? (Actually, let’s not. Safety first.)

Terminal 1 Construction Timeline

This is subject to change, but as of now, here is the official timeline from the Port of Vancouver USA:
