Downtown Vancouver is getting a new reason to loosen its belt buckle, because Loyal Legion Vancouver WA is officially on deck. The former home of Heathen Brewing’s Feral Public House is trading in its feral ways for something a little more…loyal, as the beloved beer hall concept prepares to cross the Columbia and set up shop in Washington for the very first time.
The force behind the move? Chefstable Group, the Portland-based restaurant collective known for building cult favorites like Lardo, Grassa, Fracture Brewing, and (of course) Loyal Legion. They’ve officially purchased the sprawling Feral Public House property at 1109 Washington Street, and yes, big things are brewing.
A Beer Hall With a Washington Accent
If you’ve been to Loyal Legion before, you know the drill: burgers, sausages, pretzels, salads, and enough draft lines to make your beer-loving heart skip a beat. Vancouver’s version will stay true to that formula…with one very important twist.
This location will spotlight Washington-brewed beers, giving local breweries the starring role instead of their Oregon neighbors. Consider it a home-field advantage, served by the pint.
Loyal Legion’s flagship Portland location recently celebrated its 10th anniversary, and the brand has expanded successfully to Beaverton and even PDX Airport. While a Sacramento outpost didn’t stick around long, Chefstable seems confident that Vancouver is the right next chapter…and frankly, the building agrees!
The Building: Big, Bold, and Getting a Glow-Up
The former Feral Public House isn’t exactly small potatoes. The 10,000-square-foot property includes:
- A 5,000 sq. ft. restaurant and bar
- Nearly 5,000 sq. ft. of fenced outdoor seating
- A covered, heated patio that laughs in the face of Pacific Northwest weather
- A full-service kitchen and liquor license
- And a mysterious 5,000 sq. ft. basement destined to become one of Loyal Legion’s signature speakeasies
Once the new owners peeled away a 50+ year-old drop ceiling, they realized they’d struck architectural gold. The plan? A full remodel inside and out, plus landscaping upgrades that will make the patio feel just as fresh as the beer.
A Match Made in Malt Heaven
Chefstable owner Kurt Huffman says the timing couldn’t have been better for a Loyal Legion Vancouver WA location when connecting with Heathen Brewing owner Sunny Parsons about the sale. The two quickly aligned on the vision, teaming up on what Huffman calls a near-perfect home for Loyal Legion’s Washington debut.
The goal is nothing short of their best-looking Loyal Legion yet…and with Vancouver’s rapidly evolving downtown and booming beer scene, the fit feels almost too good.
Vancouver’s Beer Scene is Going From Feral to Loyal!
Loyal Legion’s arrival continues a wave of beer-related momentum downtown, following Breakside Brewery’s expansion into Vancouver and the recent reimagining of Final Draft Taphouse under new ownership (Payton O’Neil). Loyal Legion Vancouver WA Beer Hall is targeting a Spring 2026 opening at 1109 Washington Street.
This is welcome news for Vancouver, WA that has just been hit hard with the news of Georgie’s Bar & Grill and Heavy Metal Pizza & Explorer Brewing both shutting down within a week of each other.
