๐Ÿ” Georgie’s Garage and Grill Has Permanently Closed

Downtown Vancouver lost another longtime hangout. Georgieโ€™s Garage & Grill permanently closed on December 9th, a decision that left many regulars feeling confused and saddened.

For years, Georgieโ€™s was the kind of place that felt stitched into the neighborhood: a reliable stop for comfort food, drinks, live music, and community events that ranged from casual get-togethers to fundraisers.

A Rough Year, Even by Bar Standards

While the closure announcement came suddenly, the road leading up to it had a few potholes. Back in September, a fire started outside the building, causing damage and forcing Georgieโ€™s into a temporary shutdown while repairs were assessed. Though the fire didnโ€™t end the business immediately, it likely added stress to an already tough year for small, independent bars navigating rising costs, unpredictable foot traffic, and post-pandemic whiplash.

Georgieโ€™s eventually reopened, giving the impression that things were back on track…or at least idling forward.

The Week That Broke Everyoneโ€™s Brains

What truly threw the community for a loop was the timing. As of December 8th, 2025 at 6:54 PM, Georgieโ€™s social media was still promoting an upcoming toy drive scheduled for December 13th, 2025, suggesting business as usual. Less than a day later (at 11:57 AM on December 9th, 2025) the bar posted that it had permanently closed.

Cue the record scratch.

Comments quickly filled with confusion and disbelief. Many patrons had plans, others had questions, and nearly everyone seemed caught off-guard by how fast the lights went out.

Last Call, No Warning Bell

The owners havenโ€™t publicly detailed every factor behind the decision to close, but its absence leaves a noticeable gap on Broadway and in the routines of the people who called it their place.

Georgieโ€™s isnโ€™t the only local hotspot to slam the door recently. Vancouver seems to be in the middle of a bit of a โ€œlast callโ€ streak. Presso Coffee announced it will pour its final cup by December 31st, and Heavy Metal Pizza & Explorer Brewing Co. officially closed on December 15th. Itโ€™s been a rough couple of weeks for the cityโ€™s beloved gathering spots, proving that even in Vancouver, the music doesnโ€™t always play forever.
