Saying Goodbye to Chen’s Good Taste in East Vancouver

It is always a dark day in Vancouver when a go-to takeout joint flips its sign to “Closed” for the final time. For local comfort-food aficionados tucked away on the East side of Vancouver WA, Chen’s Good Taste on SE Mill Plain Blvd was a reliable sanctuary of sizzle, steam, and savory perfection. Whether you were dropping in for a quick lunch special or placing a massive weekend takeout order, its departure leaves a noticeable void in our local dining landscape.

A Mill Plain Strip Mall Essential

Tucked into 14930 SE Mill Plain Blvd, Chen’s Good Taste gave off classic hole-in-the-wall magic. It didn’t rely on fancy velvet booths or elaborate mood lighting to make an impression; it let the woks do all the heavy lifting.

From crisp crab puffs and golden spring rolls to their signature roasted pork and Yang Chow fried rice, the kitchen churned out classic Chinese-American favorites with the kind of speed and consistency that turned first-time visitors into absolute regulars. It was easy on the wallet, generously portioned, and reliably delicious…a trifecta that is increasingly hard to find.

What’s Next for Vancouver’s Eastside Foodies?

While the woks at Chen’s Good Taste have cooled down, Vancouver’s Asian culinary scene continues to evolve, such as with the opening of Minari Market to Downtown Vancouver this past May 2026. As we mourn the loss of our favorite takeout staples, supporting local, independent eateries throughout Vancouver and Clark County remains as vital as ever.

Rest in peace to a true local staple…your fried rice and hospitality will be sincerely missed!
