The Heist Portland: A Bank Robbery Themed Food Cart Pod That Doesn’t Disappoint

We visited The Heist Portland – Woodstock’s newest food cart pod and bar. And let us tell you…it is awesome! The Heist takes its name from the former US Bank that once stood at this location…and the infamous bank robbery that took place there in 2010.

The story of the heist, coupled with the building’s rich past, became the inspiration behind the name The Heist and the overall theme of the space. The transformation from a banking institution to a modern-day food hub was no small feat, but the team behind The Heist Portland managed to preserve the building’s charm while creating something entirely new.

Grab Some Delicious Java at Caffeine Withdrawal

No food experience is complete without a great cup of coffee, and Caffeine Withdrawal provides just that. You can choose to order your coffee out of the repurposed bank teller window, or you can go inside to order. Either way, you’re going to be getting a great cup of coffee (or tea – whatever strikes your fancy!) We highly recommend the Creme Brulee latte, but their drip coffee is delightfully delicious as well.

The PNW Report Tip

Caffeine Withdrawal has an early bird happy hour every morning from 7-8am with $1 off all drinks and pastries (they serve Jen’s Pastries – yessss!)

Pretend Like You’re a Kid Again at the Heist’s Arcade

The Heist’s arcade is a fantastic addition that makes The Heist stand out from other food cart pods. It’s an ideal place for families, groups of friends, or anyone looking to add a little entertainment to their visit. Plus, the nostalgia factor is awfully high – anyone else peep that Simpsons pinball machine?!

The artwork that adorns the walls of The Heist Portland and the surrounding space is inspired by its scandalous past. It’s kind of fun to scan through all the artwork when you’re in the space, so make sure you set aside some extra time to peruse in between sips and bites.

So, the next time you’re in the area, be sure to stop by and see what makes The Heist a standout spot in Portland’s food cart scene. You won’t just be enjoying a delicious meal – you’ll also be stepping into a piece of the city’s colorful (and scandalous!) past.
