This Portland Brewery, Steeplejack, is Located Inside of an Old Church

Ever wanted to go to a brewery inside an old church? Well, now you can! Enter: Steeplejack Brewing in Portland, Oregon.

Steeplejack took over the space of a church built in 1909. Over the years, the church building has been home to several different congregations. Most recently, the building housed the Metropolitan Community Church of Portland.

Steeplejack is family-friendly, meaning all ages are allowed inside this establishment (and there’s a kids menu to boot!). So bring your kiddos and enjoy!

Even though the former church has now been converted into a brewery, you will still find that the interior looks and functions like a church. The reverend’s offices and pulpit are now used as rooms for events and/or extra seating. Speaking of seating…did you notice that the brewery uses pews for seating around the wooden tables? Oh, and the stained glass window directly above the brewing tanks? Stunning.

Steeplejack has an impressive beverage menu, ranging from in-house drafts to cocktails to wine. Those who don’t drink alcohol will be happy to know that Steeplejack also has quite a few non-alcoholic options ranging from non-alcoholic beer to non-alcoholic cocktails to standard non-alcoholic drinks like iced tea and water.

Steeplejack isn’t just known for its beer; it also boasts an impressive food line-up. The food is much more than standard bar/brewery fare thanks to an impressive menu put together by head chef Lawrence Gable. Starters range from deviled eggs to fried brussell sprouts and delicata, while main menu items range from delectable sandwiches to delicious taco plates. There are vegan and gluten-free items available, so all will be able to enjoy.
