Depoe Bay Winery
Nestled in the quaint Oregon Coast town of Depoe Bay, Depoe Bay Winery stands out as one of the best wineries on the Oregon Coast. As a small, family-owned and operated business, they appreciate each and every person who steps through their doors. One of the coolest features is the Depoe Bay “Wine Cave” and the cozy tasting room overlooking the Pacific Ocean. This is one of the only places in the Pacific Northwest where you can get some whale sightings (and other marine life) while sipping wine. Depoe Bay Winery specializes in fruit wines, so if you like sweet wines, this is the place for you. They also offer traditional grape varietals, so don’t worry if you like your wine a little more on the rich, savory side.

Nehalem Bay Winery
Heading north up the list of wineries on the Oregon Coast, Nehalem Bay Winery offers a taste of Oregon’s Willamette Valley in the charming coastal town of Nehalem. Initially, production focused on fruit wines (their Oregon Blackberry is to die for), but they eventually also expanded to traditional varietals. Nehalem Bay Winery has an outside deck with a beautiful view, so we definitely recommend seeking the outdoor seating if possible. Expect to pay $10 for a flight of five tasting pours; this fee is waived with the purchase of a wine bottle.
The PNW Report Tip
Nehalem Bay Winery also has a killer mead, so if you’re a fan, we definitely recommend trying it out.

Shallon Winery
Nestled in the heart of Downtown Astoria, Shallon Winery is a unique experience that can’t easily be replicated anywhere else. The owner, Paul van der Veldt, is very hands-on with his one-man winery patrons. You’ll be required to tour his winery and taste his products before being allowed to purchase anything. In your time tasting the wines, Paul will regale you with various stories of his time as a winemaker, and will ask you questions about yourself.
Fun fact: Shallon Winery is located in a historic building that has been used as an automotive showroom, refrigerated locker rental storage business, and a bicycle shop. Shallon Winery’s tasting room looks out over the Columbia River, so you’ll be sure to get some awesome views when you’re sipping on the vino. Which, by the way, is delicious. Shallon Winery claims to produce only “totally unique wines” that are not available anywhere else, such as their chocolate-orange wine and their cranberry wine. They also produce a whey wine!
